Over twenty artists took part in the Art Trail on Sunday 10th September, across 22 venues. The trail, curated by Anne Forgan of Extraordinary Arts and Ludic Rooms was a celebration of history, community, art and artists of all levels. There was something for everyone including painting, installation, performance, digital media and moving image. Full details of the artists can be found here.
A first and runner up prize was awarded for Visitor’s Choice and Curators Choice. Min-Kyung Kim won the Visitor’s Choice award with her beautiful work, “Rain of Memory”, which was exhibited within Arti Parti. The winner of the Curator’s Choice was Carol Breen with her moving image, “Loop the Loop”, which was exhibited in the window of Spon End Chip Shop. Well deserved runner’s up for the Visitors’ Choice were The Weavers’ House with their stunning, “Coventry Blue”, and for the Curator’s Choice the creative works of Crafty Blokes, part of Men’s Shed.
The day was rounded off with a fun gathering at Sovereign Row Park and The Broomfield Tavern for the Big Party Picnic. Food was served on the ceramic platters made during Laurence Curtis’ and Angie Atkins’ Ceramic Workshops. The picnic blankets made colourful and comfortable chair covers, as they couldn’t be laid on the wet grass. The Upsiders had everyone jigging and singing along to an eclectic mix of music genres and everyone enjoyed the hospitality of The Broomfield Tavern and the delicious selection of food on offer, courtesy of the Spon Spun Festival.
