More fabulous fruits were created at Ruth Spaak’s second 3D sculpture workshop at MIND, on Tuesday, 8th August.  The skies outside may have been overcast but inside at the MIND Wellbeing Hub it was a riot of colour, enticing the participants to create their own 3D sculptural fruit to be exhibited on the Spon Spun Arts Trail, on Sunday 10th September.

Initial hesitancy was soon overcome with the support of Ruth and Spon Spun volunteers and it wasn’t long before an array of different designs began to jostle for space, amongst the materials, coffee cups and finished plates of Ruth’s delicious homemade cake!

Meanwhile, writer Kalbinder Dayal (Kindy), chatted about all manner of things with those present, developing her ideas for the Spon Spun writing commission and even helping participants to create their own collaborative poem – After the Picnic – which will be performed on the Art Trail in September.

A gentle thrum of activity was ever present, with those making and those happier to observe and the fabulous staff at MIND ever supportive in the background.

Ruth has some exciting plans for the third 3D sculpture workshop on the 7th September, at Holyhead Studios between 11am and 3pm.  Materials and support to create your own sculptural fruit from scratch will be there and there will be the opportunity for those who have already participated to try their hands at something a little different.
